SABRINA – Safer Bicycle Routes in Danube Area
Project description
The SABRINA project focused on improving the road infrastructure safety for cyclists in nine countries of the Danube region, especially on the EuroVelo routes. The main goal of the project was to enhance the safety of road cycling infrastructure in the region by increasing the capacity of all relevant national, regional, and local stakeholders to build and improve cycling infrastructure in a safe and sustainable way. A partnership of 11 organizations, including non-governmental organizations, local authorities, research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, and sectoral agencies, worked on strengthening the capacity of relevant stakeholders to build and improve cycling infrastructure in a safe and sustainable way. This partnership model, supported by four ministries, represents a multidisciplinary approach and provides a scientific, technical, and advocacy approach to improving the safety conditions of cycling routes in the Danube area.
