The Bridging Year is designed for candidates who need to fulfil the admission requirements for graduate study at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences after completing a professional or related undergraduate programme. The programme is completed under the lifelong-learning status.
What is the Bridging Year?
The Bridging Year enables candidates who do not meet the direct admission requirements for graduate study to complete the prescribed courses and thereby acquire the right to enrol in the first year of a graduate study programme at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences.
The Bridging Year may be enrolled by candidates who have:
- completed the corresponding university undergraduate study programme, or
- completed an integrated university study programme, or
- in exceptional cases, completed a professional undergraduate study programme, subject to the obligation to complete the differential programme defined by the Faculty’s regulations.
Admission conditions for candidates from related study programmes are determined according to the published competition criteria.
Which courses must be taken?
Participants in the Bridging Year enrol in mandatory foundational courses and programme-specific specialist courses, depending on the selected graduate study programme.

- The Bridging Year is undertaken under the lifelong-learning status.
- All enrolled courses must be completed before enrolling in the first year of the graduate study programme.
- ECTS credits earned in the Bridging Year do not count toward the 120 ECTS credits of the graduate study programme.
- Upon completion of the Bridging Year, students acquire exclusively the right to enrol in the corresponding graduate study programme.
- The right to enrol in the graduate study programme is determined by academic performance at the previous level of study.
When applying, candidates submit the following to the Faculty’s Student Services Office:
- the application form for Bridging Year enrolment
- proof of payment of the application fee (EUR 50.00)
- bachelor’s degree certificate
- transcript of grades or diploma supplement
- curriculum and syllabus of previously completed courses, if required
The list of candidates approved for enrolment will be published on the Faculty website.
At enrolment, the student submits:
- a photograph (4 × 6 cm)
- proof of payment of the enrolment fee (EUR 60.00)
- a completed and signed enrolment form
- proof of tuition payment (number of enrolled ECTS credits × EUR 18.58)
