Boosting Circular Economy Solutions for Fishing Nets Collection, Recycling and Re-Usage in the Adriatic Region – “NetLoop“ Project

Development of new Digital platform for circular management of EOL fishing nets (NETWATCH) and jointly implementing principles of CE, respond to territorial challenges and opportunities for transition of fishing nets into value-added.

Expected benefits of NETLOOP project: human capacity and new skills development for innovative activities of collection, recycling and re-usage of EOL fishing nets, boosting circular economy development and marine environment protection, knowledge transfer and involvement in joint pilot actions, enhanced coastal area, fishing and economy waste management, cooperation within state-of-the-art circular economy innovation environments.

NETLOOP’s planned outputs: Output 2.1. Introduction of circular economy processes and digital monitoring methods for EOL fishing nets in maritime environments, Output 2.2. Development of digital platform for circular management of EOL fishing nets (NETWATCH) and Output 3.1. Joint training “Circular economy: From end-of-life fishing nets to sustainable products”.

The outputs will benefit a wide range of target groups, including public and regional authorities, port authorities, municipality departments for environment and coastal area management, sectoral regional agencies for managing marine environmental protection, innovative businesses and NGOs mostly associations of fisheries and aquaculture operators, marine protection activists, sailors, HEIs and research organizations in marine environment protection, fishery and aquaculture sectors, fishing waste management in coastal Programme area and to citizens of all participating regions.
