AWARE – Achieving Human-Machine Collaboration with Artificial Situational Awareness

The project aims to enable human-computer collaboration in which artificial intelligence can anticipate and respond to human needs by understanding human intentions and goals. It develops and tests a human-centred support system to improve the performance of air traffic controllers and reduce workload despite high operational complexity. The adaptive support environment is designed to recognise controller intent, situational awareness, and mental workload while keeping controllers actively engaged and prepared to intervene in cases of degraded automation.
