The tasks that students perform during professional practice should be directly related to their field of study.

Student professional practice enables students to:

  • connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience
  • understand and develop professional responsibility, communication skills and teamwork
  • adapt to a real working environment
  • identify or refine a final or graduate thesis topic
  • orient themselves toward future employment and gain first recommendations that can open the way to future employment.

Student professional practice is carried out in coordination with the Office for Professional Practice and Career Development. The goal is to establish a work-based learning model at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and develop the competencies students need on the labour market in cooperation with partner organisations involved in the PRISTUP FPZ project.

Mandatory professional practice (undergraduate study)

Student professional practice is mandatory for students enrolled in full-time and part-time undergraduate university programmes: Transport, Intelligent Transport Systems and Logistics / Logistics, and Aeronautics.

It is carried out in accordance with the Instruction on Professional Practice for students of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences.

Practical work lasting 20 working days (160 working hours) is performed in accordance with the working hours of the host organisation. Practice may be completed for up to eight hours per day or in another arrangement agreed between the student and the mentor in the host organisation.

At the beginning of the third study year, the student is automatically enrolled in:

  • the course through ISVU
  • the e-course through the Merlin e-learning system
  • the student professional practice application.

Additional student professional practice and workshops

Additional student professional practice gives students an opportunity to further integrate theoretical and practical knowledge and build stronger labour-market competencies before employment.

For graduate students of all study programmes, professional practice is additional. For undergraduate students, professional practice may be additional alongside the mandatory part.

Workshops

Before starting mandatory and/or additional practice, students can participate in soft-skills and technical-skills workshops.
