The abbreviation AMAC is derived from the Latin phrase Almae Matris Alumni Croaticae and refers to an association of Croatian university graduates. Associations operating under this name are non-profit civic organizations that bring together graduates of a specific higher education institution.
The establishment of similar associations is standard practice at university centres around the world, and over the past years such associations have also been founded in Croatia. All AMAC associations are organized within the domestic section, AMAC Domus. AMAC branches also exist outside Croatia and are organized within the international section, AMAC – Mundus. AMAC associations operate in North America, Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa.
As a constituent of the University of Zagreb, and in keeping with its traditions, the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences founded the “Hrvatska udruga diplomiranih inženjera i inženjera Fakulteta prometnih znanosti” – Almae Matris Alumni Croaticae – Facultas Studiorum commeatus (AMAC-FSC) on 22 March 2002. The Association also has a branch in the city of Split.
