History

The Library of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences is a specialized library dedicated to the field of transport and traffic in the Republic of Croatia. It serves as an indispensable source of information for both transport science and professional practice.

The Library has been operating since 1984. It moved to new premises in 1998, when the process of computerizing its library collection began, and again in 2010, after which it adopted the modern ALEPH integrated library system in cooperation with the National and University Library in Zagreb. At the beginning of 2026, the Library migrated to the Bukinet system (Alma/Primo VE), the shared platform used by Croatian higher education and research libraries.

Today, the Library holds more than 9,000 book copies and approximately 300 titles of Croatian and international journals, comprising more than 10,000 individual issues.

Membership

Membership and the use of library materials are free of charge. All full-time and part-time students of the Faculty, as well as other interested citizens, may join.

Before the first borrowing, users must register by presenting an identity card and student card. After registration, the student card is used as the membership card. At the end of the academic year, and before enrolment in the next one, the Library checks whether the student has returned all borrowed material and informs Student Services accordingly.

Borrowing rules

Users may borrow up to 3 books for one month. The loan can then be extended twice for another month, in person or by telephone. It is not necessary to bring the book when requesting an extension.

Exceptions are books from the aeronautics collection, which can be borrowed for seven days with two renewals, and textbooks, which may be borrowed for one day when all regular copies are already on loan. The reference collection and thesis works cannot be borrowed, but they may be consulted in the Library and photocopied. Journals are lent to students for one week if one personal document is left at the Library.

Use of computers

There are 5 computers available in the Library that students may freely use for studying, work and everyday tasks. Students may also use the computers in the adjacent PC classroom/reading room whenever no teaching is taking place there.

Photocopying

The Library offers a self-service photocopying machine. Users first load credit to their account, which is then reduced during copying. Photocopying is charged EUR 0.04 per A4 page in black and white and EUR 0.27 per A4 page in colour.
