Innovative SKILLS – Efficient and sustainable Danube navigation based on forward looking competencies

Education and training are the backbone of the development of the transport sector. It is why the goal of this project was to attract young people to educational programmes in the field in order to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to be qualified for safe and sustainable job performance. Additionally, through lifelong learning programmes, the project aimed to enhance the competencies and skills of existing employees or inactive workforce with employment potential. In the implementation of the Innovative SKILLS project, solutions were analyzed to ensure that inland navigation becomes a more attractive sector for young people to reduce the current average age of the staff. Skills developed based on innovative educational programs, training programs, and lifelong learning programs that meet the needs of the future labor market are relevant to PA 1a and the issue of increasing the operational efficiency of vessels and improving the competencies of human resources in inland navigation, as well as to the increase of the sector competitiveness.
